What’s in your Glass?
Sustainable Sandhills is hosting a workshop public to prepare for a public hearing. The workshops will take place June 6th, 11:30 AM and 100 Hay Street, Fayetteville, NC. Members of the public are encouraged to participate as Sustainable Sandhills staff and volunteers share important information on the hearing format, and details needed for composing an impactful verbal or written comment. These workshops are lunch and learn format, please bring your own lunch.
On July 18th at 6 PM in the Cumberland Hall Auditorium on the FTCC campus, the Department of Environmental Quality will be holding a public hearing for the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline water quality permits. The proposed pipeline will cross several rivers, streams, and wetlands including the Cape Fear River. The public hearings will be an opportunity for citizens to voice their concerns about how the construction of the Atlantic Coast Pipeline will impact water quality along the proposed pipeline route.
Construction of the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline will impact the Cape Fear River basin. A construction corridor of approximately 500ft will cut through areas near wetlands and streams that feed into the Cape Fear River. The proposed pipeline will be constructed under the Cape Fear River. The boring under the river will require that several acres of land are cleared on each side of the river. Construction activities have the potential to negatively impact an already sensitive ecosystem.
