Summer Music Camp
June 25 @ 9:00 am - June 29 @ 2:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 9:00am, repeating until June 29, 2018
The Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Camp is an individualized focused day camp that offers small ensemble playing opportunities, daily group and individualized instruction, and masterclasses/lectures for advanced instrumental students ages 13-21. The development of each student’s leadership and musicianship is emphasized as students learn to work collaboratively in this fun and inviting musical atmosphere. The students will be assigned to chamber ensembles for the week, and they will receive daily coaching sessions with professional musicians of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra. If needed, placement auditions will be held the first day of the festival to determine placement in small ensembles. Music will be handed out the first day of the camp. The focus of coaching sessions will be on solo, chamber, and large ensemble music collaboration. There will be a culminating performance on the last day of the festival at 1pm; families will be invited to attend.
This music camp is a more intense, individualized chamber music camp different from that of band or orchestra camp. It is suited for the more dedicated and advanced players. Though no one will be turned away from participating, in addition to the age requirement, we ask that any student planning to attend must be able to play a two octave chromatic scale, and know at least 5 of the 12 major scales on their select instrument AND/OR the student has been participating in the Fayetteville Symphony Youth Orchestra for at least one year. This music camp is not intended for beginning instrumentalists. For any questions regarding whether your child can participate, please contact the FSO Office at (910)433-4690.
