Global Art Project for Peace
April 22 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The Minervas.Org Movement will be working in collaboration of the Global Art Project for Peace.
We will be working TOGETHER in our commUNITY to cultivate a peaceful space where we can all spread the light within and shine!
We invite all MINERVAS in the area to come and participate on this amazing project.
The mission of the Global Art Project is to joyously create a culture of peace through art. The Project celebrates diversity and multi-culturalism while expressing the idea: We Are All One.
Nominated for a UNESCO Prize, the Global Art Project is an international art exchange for peace which has involved 145,000 participants in 93 countries on seven continents. 200+ Regional Coordinators help to organize and spread the word in their part of the world. The Project was founded in Tucson, Arizona, USA in 1993 by artist, Katherine Josten.
Anyone can participate!
Here’s how it works: Participants create a work of art in any medium, expressing their vision of global peace and goodwill. The art is displayed locally in each participant’s community. Global Art Project then organizes an international exchange by matching participants—group-to-group and individual-to-individual. The exchange occurs April 23-30 biennially, resulting in thousands of people sending messages of Peace around the world at one time—visions of unity simultaneously encircle the Earth. The art is sent as a gift of global friendship and exhibited in the receiving community.
Participants may send documentation of the art created and of the people who came together to create the art to the GAP Art Bank. Global Art Project exhibitions, books, slide presentations, and this website give people an opportunity to experience visions of peace and unity created by individuals from diverse cultures around the world.
The Global Art Project creates Peace through Art by:
Addressing the root causes of violence by teaching tolerance, cooperation and sharing.
Connecting people of diverse cultural backgrounds, providing exposure to new ideas and teaching that the world can be safe for diversity.
Seeding the future with visions of peace, love and friendship.
Connecting people around the world who choose to create and share a vision of global unity.
Creating a living network of cooperation that can help to make the vision of unity a reality.
Healing and transforming feelings of isolation and separation by providing a feeling of connection to the Whole.
Exemplifying in concrete form: We Are All One – people can be different and unique yet act together as integral members of one living organism—Earth.
We will be gathering in the Computer Lab Room #8 of the MAIN LIBRARY – 3rd Sunday of each month from 2-4pm
