Climate Action with What’s in your glass?

July 8 @ 1:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Climate Action with What’s in your Glass?
Join Sustainable Sandhills, Power Up NC and Appalachian Voices for a Climate Action Workshop.

Session Topics include Public Hearing Preparation, Neighborhood Canvassing, and Renewable Energy Job Readiness.

On July 18th at 6 PM in the Cumberland Hall Auditorium on the FTCC campus, the Department of Environmental Quality will be holding a public hearing for the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline water quality permits. The proposed pipeline will cross several rivers, streams, and wetlands including the Cape Fear River. The public hearings will be an opportunity for citizens to voice their concerns about how the construction of the Atlantic Coast Pipeline will impact water quality along the proposed pipeline route.

Construction of the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline will impact the Cape Fear River basin. A construction corridor of approximately 500ft will cut through areas near wetlands and streams that feed into the Cape Fear River. The proposed pipeline will be constructed under the Cape Fear River. The boring under the river will require that several acres of land are cleared on each side of the river. Construction activities have the potential to negatively impact an already sensitive ecosystem.

Sustainable Sandhills is hosting a session to prepare for the public hearing. The workshop session will take place July 8th at 1 PM at 100 Hay Street, Fayetteville, NC. Members of the public are encouraged to participate as Sustainable Sandhills staff and volunteers share important information on the hearing format, and details needed for composing an impactful verbal and/or written comment.

Don’t sit there hungry. Bring your own Lunch!
