Please join in the 20th Great Backyard Bird Count this coming weekend, February 16-19.
It’s time once again for the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC), sponsored by Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the National Audubon Society, Bird Studies Canada, and other international partners. People from around the world count birds over the four-day period and submit their lists online. Counting birds provides scientists and researchers with a real-time snapshot of winter bird populations. Each checklist submitted during the GBBC helps them learn more about how birds are doing, and how to protect them and the environment we share.
You can participate by counting the birds you see for at least 15 minutes on one or more days of the GBBC. Count birds in as many places and on as many days as you like. The GBBC website has instructions on submitting your count, bird lists for our area, and online bird guides.
