An Optimist Club is a voluntary organization of civic minded men and women banded together in the modern tradition for progressive thought and action in community service. The Optimist Club of the Sandhills proudly supports academic and athletic opportunities geared toward the youth of our community.

The Sandhills Optimist Club currently sponsors a recreational baseball and football league for youth in the region. The baseball league consists of three leagues for youth 7-12 years old and begins each spring with evalutations/registration in early March. The football league consist of both flag and tackle football with registration in mid July and practices beginning in August. For specific dates and deadlines, visit our website.

An Optimist Club Functions To:

  • - Serve the local community with what is needed,
  • - Aid and encourage the development of youth,
    - Develop optimism as a way of life,
    - Build fellowship and friendship,
    - Improve international accord,
    - Promote good government,
    - Improve its members.
