The purpose of the Sandhills Youth Soccer League (SYSL) is to promote soccer in Moore County, North Carolina through development of playing skills, teaching of rules and strategies, the instillation of the ideals of good sportsmanship and the encouragement of the recreational values of soccer.

Recreational League

NCYSA defines a recreational team as one: that does not use tryouts, invitations, recruiting or any like process to roster players selectively to any team on the basis of talent or ability.  Every child must play at least half of each game except for reasons of injury or discipline.  NCSYA and SYSL strive to promote an emphasis on PARTICIPATION, not COMPETITION.

Challenge League

The goal of the SYSL Challenge League is to provide an environment in which the level of competition, commitment, and player development falls between that of the Recreation and Classic Leagues.  All Challenge Coaches are required to go through coaching education and have a responsibility to develop the soccer skills and team play of their players.

Classic League

The NCYSA Classic program provides an environment to develop players at the highest level: age appropriate development of players who demonstrate talent and commitment with the desire to excel, and an appropriate level of team competition and the values of good sportsmanship to all who participate.  Players wishing to play at the most competitive level possible (excluding ODP), for an extended period of time (usually 8-10 months), play Classic soccer.
