 About Our School

Pope John Paul II Catholic School is a pre-K-6 parochial school in Southern Pines, NC dedicated to the mission of forming the hearts and minds of students according to the teachings of the Catholic Faith and the highest standards of academic excellence.

Our goal is simple. We support a community of learning that encourages high standards and emphasizes strong values. We believe that education is about more than academic development, it’s about life success, making the right choices today and in the years to come.

The only Catholic school in the Sandhills, PJPII school provides a rich and challenging curriculum for students in kindergarten through grade 6. In addition, we offer a full-day Pre-K program for three-year-old and four-year-old students. Our school is an extended community rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the traditions of the Catholic Church.

Academics

We strive to nurture students’ God-given gifts, cultivate a life-long thirst for knowledge, and prepare young people to embrace their world through lives of faith, service and leadership. By nurturing Christian values along with excellence in education, PJPII fosters character and leadership development and inspires good citizenship. Students who attend our school receive instruction in accordance with N.C. Standards of Curriculum.

After school, students may participate in an extended day program that is available until 6 p.m. daily. Other after-school activities include a drama club, hockey, and The Crusaders Club (a community service organization). Our scores on national standardized tests are typically two grades above average, and young people from our school are routinely recognized through local and regional awards for academic and artistic excellence. We support low student/teacher ratios and offer an affordable tuition fee schedule.
