Sandhills Youth Soccer LeagueSANDHILS YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE - AGES 4 – 14 The Sandhills Youth Soccer League is for boys and girls ages 4-14 (age as of August 1, 2008). Registration forms for the Fall season will be available at the Village of Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department. The registration deadline is July 1, 2008. Sport ProgramsPINEHURST JUNIOR TENNIS CLASSIC- Ages 18 & Under Co-sponsored with Southern Pines Recreation & Parks Dept., Sandhills Tennis Association and local tennis clubs. All players must have current USTA card. The following divisions of play will be offered for boys and girls: 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, 16 and under, 18 and under. Tournament Dates: July 10 – 12 Registration Deadline: July 3 Tournament Sites: Pinehurst Resort, CCNC, National $23 (Checks payable to Sandhills Tennis Association) MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PITCH, HIT, & RUN - Ages 7 – 14 The Pinehurst, Southern Pines, & Aberdeen Recreation Departments will be running this FREE program for boys and girls ages 7 – 14. This is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. Youth will compete in three skill areas divided by age. Ages will be split into two year increments; ages 7 & 8, ages 9 & 10, ages 11 & 12, and ages 13 & 14. Age will be determined as of July 17, 2008. All youth must bring a birth certificate to verify age and are not allowed to wear metal spikes or participate in more than one local competition. This competition will be held Saturday, May 3 at the Colonial Ballfields inAberdeen. Saturday, May 3 Colonial Ballfields in Aberdeen Registration begins at 2:00 p.m. Competition will begin at 2:15 p.m.

The fundamentals of ballet and dance will be taught at this class. Mondays from 5:00 - 6:00. Runs for six weeks. Space is still available. Music, Movement & Rhythm - Classes are offered for children ages 3-5 years old. Mondays from 4:15 -5:00. Classes are on going. Beginning Ballroom - Classes are for children ages 8-12. Fee includes 6 sessions. Classes are on going and space is limited.

SPRING COACH PITCH BASEBAL LEAGUE - Ages 5 – 7 Co-sponsored with the Pinehurst Kiwanis Club, this league is for boys and girls ages 5 – 7 as of August 1, 2008. The emphasis is on FUN and skill development in a pressure free environment. No score is kept during games and all youth in attendance are guaranteed to play. All practices and games are held twice weekly Mondays and Wednesdays at Cannon Park. Practices begin Monday, May 5 and coaches will notify parents about the first practice time. Anyone interested in coaching should indicate so on the registration from. A mandatory coaches meeting will be held on Thursday, April 24 in the Village Hall at 6:00 p.m. 1st Practice – Monday, May 5 Cannon Park $10 Residents, $15 Non-Residents Deadline to Register: Friday, April 18 YOUTH SWIM TEAM - AGES 6 – 14 The Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department and FirstHealth Center for Health and Fitness will once again be putting together a swim team to compete in a local swim league. Registration is only open to Pinehurst Residents, or non-residents who have already been on the team. The team will swim in approximately 5 – 6 meets throughout the months of June and July. Meets will be held locally, primarily at the O’Neal School. Practices will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Fitness Center. The first practice will be held Thursday, May 15. $10 Resident, $15 Non-Resident Minimum/Maximum: 10/35 JUNIOR TENNIS LEAGUE - Ages 10 – 17 Co-sponsored with Pinehurst, Inc. The league is for youth who can of minimum play a match and keep score. The team will be coached by Kevin Criscoe from the Pinehurst Resort Tennis Center. Practices will be held Tuesday & Thursday afternoons in June. Youth should provide their own racket and wear tennis shoes. A team T-shirt will be provided to all youth on the team. $10 Residents, $15 Non-Residents Minimum/Maximum: 10/20 Registration Deadline: Friday, May 23
