Moore District Cub Scout Day Camp

Cub Scout Day Camp will be held June 16-20, Monday – Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The camp will be held at Camp Reeves in Carthage. ELIGIBILITY:  To participate in an Occoneechee Council's Cub Day Camp, a boy must be registered with a pack as a Cub Scout.  No person or groups of race, color, national origin or hardship will be excluded from participation in Cub Scout Day Camp.

COST:  $ 70.00 per Scout before April 15, 2008; $ 80.00 after April 15, 2008.  This includes a T-Shirt, camp patch, craft materials and insurance.  No registrations accepted after June 1st, 2008.  Cub will bring his lunch daily; however, water and two snacks will be provided daily.

Traveling Day Camp
July 7 – 10, 2008
Ages: 8—12
8:00am – 5:00pm
Cost:  $45.00
Limit:  12  
Join us for a fun-filled week exploring Anson, Moore, Montgomery and Richmond Counties.  Each day, participants will participate in fun, hands-on programs and activities. Afternoons are scheduled for swimming or bowling.  Kids will need to wear swim attire under their clothing, bring a toweland bag lunch.  Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided, including drinks with lunch.

Crafts Galore   
July 11, 2008 
Ages: 5—8 
9:00am – 3:00pm 
Cost:  $10.00 
Limit:  15 
The day will be filled with fun and exciting, age- appropriate workshops including candle-making, science activities, money management and fabulous CRAFTS!  Youth will rotate to different workshops and have a variety of items to bring home.  In the afternoon, we will enjoy a scavenger hunt and fishing at Lake Luke Marion.  Bring a bag lunch.  Snacks will be provided.

Kid’s Quilt Camp  
July 14 – 18, 2008

Come and learn the basics of QUILTING with Instructor, Kay Simpson.  Learn to make a lap size quilt just like the one great-great grandmothermight have made.  The basis of this topic is so that participants can use their sewing skills and also apply it other future sewing projects.  On Friday, we will visit a fabric store and learn how to select fabric and patterns for quilting.  Snacks will be provided.

All-Star Sports Quest

This week will be solely focused on PHYSICAL FITNESS and HEALTHY LIFESTYLES.  Emphasis will be placed on the basic fundamentals of soccer, football, baseball, volleyball and disc-golf. BioFuels and Alternative Energy  
August 6-8
Ages: 11—16   
8:00 am– 4:00pm

Participants will learn what it takes to produce their own clean-burning 8:00am biofuel. Youth will gain knowledge and interest regarding current and future trends in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)related career fields.  We will visit biofuel facilities, such as the Williamsdale Farm Energy Field Laboratory, the NC Solar Center, the NC Biotechnology Center in Research Triangle Park, The Novozymes facility in Franklinton, Piedmont Biofuels in Moncure, and one of the new agri-ethanol plants in North Carolina.

Kids Government 101 Leadership Course 
August 12- 13, 2008
Ages: 10—18           
8:00 – 12:00

This is an exciting two-day leadership program for the younger Moore County residents who want to understand and share in the workings of our local government.  The participants in this program will get a first hand experience by shadowing with different departments during this event, as well as question and answer sessions with County Manager and Directors.  There will be emphasis in Wellness, a tour of the Jail, EMS, Sheriff’s Department, and special projects relating to GIS.  Lunch will be provided both days.  An application for Kids Government 101 Leadership Course is must be completed and returned by July 11, 2008 to Linda Gore, NC Cooperative Extension-Moore County Center, PO Box 1149, Carthage, NC 28327 or email it to
