O’Neal’s Henry Hamilton Awarded Fellowship
Southern Pines – Through nomination of its members, the Sandhills Branch of the English Speaking Union has awarded O’Neal Upper School English Teacher Henry Hamilton a scholarship to participate in the ESU’s Teachers Learning Abroad program this summer. He will be using this scholarship to study literature at the University of Edinburgh. The two week long course he will take is called “Text and Context: Modernism” in which he will get the chance to read and study modernist novels, stories, and poems from authors such as T.S. Eliot, Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, and Ford Madox Ford. “I look forward to incorporating the knowledge I gain this summer into next year’s Advanced Placement Literature curriculum, as well as sharing what I learn with teachers across Moore County through the ESU Sandhills Branch,” says Mr. Hamilton.
