Southern Pines – The 8th grade from the O’Neal School recently traveled to Washington, DC for four days as part of their annual class trip. On the way to our nations’ capital the group stopped at Mt. Vernon for a tour of the wonderful grounds there. While in Washington, the students toured the Capitol Building and visited the Senate Chamber while in session. The highlight of the capitol visit was a meeting with Congressmen Howard Coble and Larry Kissel. The students also visited the numerous museums in the Smithsonian complex, the Holocaust Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, and the National Archives. All of the monuments were visited as well and on the way home the group stopped at the Marine Museum in Quantico.
