Lisa Scott was named principal of Westmoore Elementary School by the Moore County Board of Education in their Nov. 9 meeting. Scott will assume her new position effective Jan. 1.

Scott is a 1996 graduate of St. Andrews Presbyterian College where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She received her Master’s in School Administration and Curriculum/Instruction from UNC-Pembroke in 2006.

She served as an elementary teacher in Montgomery County during the 1997-98 school year before moving to Aberdeen Middle School (presently Aberdeen Elementary School) where she spent two years teaching fifth grade. She taught seventh grade at Southern Middle School, and fifth grade at Aberdeen Elementary School and Vass-Lakeview Elementary School before being named assistant principal in 2007 to serve both Westmoore Elementary and Highfalls Elementary.

School district administration began their search for a new principal following Principal Bruce Williams’ announcement at the beginning of the school year that he would retire in December.
