Terpsichore Dance Studio….Our Mission

For 16 years, Terpsichore…a  moving experience has been a family and community based dance studio located in beautiful downtown Southern Pines.  We take pride in offering a quality dance program in a loving and nurturing atmosphere. Our programs instill the values of goal setting, perseverance, and character building, coupled with the fun and enjoyment of dancing.  We strive to to give each dancer a positive sense of self, personal integrity, and solid work ethics.  Our goal is to give each child the opportunity to experience their own love of dance in a safe and noncompetitive environment.

Our Programs

With a teaching staff of eight, we are able to offer the most compressive dance program in Moore County.  Our youngest dancers begin at age three and continue their dance education well into their teen years.  Technique classes are offered in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Modern Dance, Tap, and Creative Movement from the beginner through the advanced level.  We offer supplemental classes in Yoga and Pilates for the dancer, Theatre Dance Arts, and Teen / Adult dance programs.  Master Classes are scheduled throughout the year, and are taught by professional instructors and dancers from all across the country.

Our Instructors

Terpsichore chooses  highly qualified and experienced teachers, who  provide a well rounded dance education through a structured syllabus in each of our dance forms. Each of our teachers have advanced degrees in dance education, performance, or early childhood education.  Our teachers are credited with instilling the ‘family’ atmosphere valued at Terpsichore.  Our combined teaching and performance years almost hits the 100 year mark!

Our Performance Opportunities

Terpsichore dancers are offered many opportunities to perform throughout the community. We present an annual full length production of the holiday classic, ‘The Nutcracker’, as well as a Spring Concert for our advanced dancers and a Spring Recital for the  younger students. Each of these productions are held at Owen’s Auditorium on the campus of Sandhills Community College. We perform each year at ‘Springfest, and ‘Autumfest’ in downtown Southern Pines, as well as in area nursing homes, and charity events. Our dancers also have the opportunity to perform in less formal settings within the dance studio for parents, friends, and family.

Our Facilities

We have three spacious and well lit studios located upstairs above quaint local shops in downtown Southern Pines.  All of our studios are equipped with state of the art stereo and sound equipment.  Our wooden sub floors are covered in professional dance marley to insure proper traction and provide the safest dancing environment. Each of our studios has a one way observation window to enable parents to observe classes while not being seen. Our large office and Dance wear Store, where we stock dance clothing and shoes, are located just up the stairs. A comfortable lobby, dressing room, and several restrooms are provided for students and parents.

Birthday Parties

Terpsichore Dance StudioWe offer three different themes for Birthday Parties for children; “Dancing Princess”, “Fairytopia”, and “High School Musicals” All three party themes include two hours of fun, beginning with a 45 minute “Meet and Dance”, followed by 30 minutes of “Party Time”, and ending with our “Dance and Play” Finale!  All paper products, take home ballerina skirt/costume accessories, and fun-filled Goodie bags are also included.  Contact our studio office for booking details.
